Adopt a Park

Adopt a Park is held in Douglass and Valley Parks during Spring Break week, Valley Park during the summers in June on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and our new location, Gainesway Park during the month of July on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Each day is sponsored by an organization or church that provides fun and safe activities for kids.


Lexington City Mentors Program

Lexington City Mentors Program is committed to connecting LFUCG full-time classified and unclassified civil service employees to those young people who are in need of positive role models in their lives.  Mentoring our youth about job opportunities, life-skills, and schools work will make a difference.  our current partner organizations are: Big Brother Big Sisters, Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington Leadership Foundation, and Lexington Parks and Recreation.

Community Partners Meetings

Community Partners meetings are held in the Cardinal Valley, Gainesway, and the West End of Lexington.  The meetings are held to find creative ways to help youth and their families.  Meetings are held bi-monthly and attended by people who love, live in, and serve these areas.  Participants include, the faith community, schools, universities, agencies, and many more organizations.


I DO Initiative 

I DO is a partnership made up of leaders with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government, Fayette County Public Schools, the faith community, universities, agencies, organizations, and neighborhood associations to:

  • Identifying Opportunities
  • Developing Relationships
  • Organizing Partnerships


Metro C.A.T.S.

Metro C.A.T.S. (Computer Access To Succeed) is a partnership between Lexington Fayette Urban County Government, Metronet, University of Kentucky, and Fayette County Public Schools. It is a computer literacy program for low-income, at-risk youth, to have access to coding workshops, job training, skill building, and hardware so that they have exposure to new interests that give them a competitive edge. It is held at the Charles Young Center located at 540 East Third Street, Lexington, KY 40508 each Fall Semester.
